Barcelona was the site of a new edition: Taxi! Fira del Taxi on 17 and 18 October at Feria de Barcelona. As was established in its later editions, this exhibition alternates annually between the cities of Madrid and Barcelona to facilitate greater competition in the taxi drivers in Spain.
Thanks to the efforts of business and Spanish institutions involved in the taxi industry, for several years they managed to realize this important call, just as they did other major European cities.
Fira del Taxi is always a meeting point for industry, commerce and services for taxi drivers in Spain. As in any gathering of this nature the goal is to facilitate contact between customers and suppliers, that is why to ensure the success of the proposal, the organization put its best efforts to strengthen the supply of products and services to state and ensuring presence of greater numbers of visitors.
About 10,000 people visited the third edition of Fira axi, for what organizers are rated as very positive both public attendance and the number of exhibitors, more than 40. Francesc Narvaez, president of the Metropolitan Taxi Institute (IMET), visited the fair on Saturday and took a taxi tour of the campus greeting exhibitors. He also attended Miguel A. Martin, manager of Imet. The two most important organizations at the state sector which accounts for almost one hundred percent of all taxi drivers in Spain (Unalt and CTE) were present at the fair with booths themselves each. It has also formed the National Association of Spain Radiotaxis that will bring together about 12,000 taxi drivers throughout the state and where are the main stations in Barcelona, Madrid, Andalucia and Valencia in the first place.
