Galicia has issued Law 5 / 2009 of 26 November on urgent measures to modernize the public transport sector, including an extension of the concessions until 2015 and an automatic extension of the school transport contracts 2020.

 The measures are aimed at improvements in the field of technology and exploitation as the introduction of SAE or fare collection systems integrated into the metropolitan transportation plans. Companies also have to undergo improvements in the quality of service and fleet and equipment. In this latter regard, the Administration indicates that should reduce the age of the fleet, adequate signage to vehicle accessibility regulations and implement a corporate image.
